Emotion

This picture can not express how I feel when I watch BYU football. As I grew up I imagined myself going to BYU for college. In elementary school they asked us where we saw ourselves in 10 years, in the yearbook it says, after my name, "Hopefully at BYU." That turned out to only be a hope. Over the course of the past couple years, as I've lived in Provo for a summer, and watched and attended BYU games I've been hit emotionally. I didn't understand why at first but now I do. I sometimes wish so badly that I was there. The feeling on that campus and that atmosphere at games and among friends is like no other college experience I've had. I cry almost every time I watch a game. I don't know if it's just a sense of regret of not going, or just that it makes me happy to watch the team I love play. I would say it's both.

Some may ask why I didn't choose to go to BYU, well I knew at the time (when it came to applying to schools) that it wasn't what was right for me at the time. I thought about going for my masters degree but they don't have a program for my field. I guess it wasn't meant to be for me to attend the school, but I still get emotional when involved in these events or visiting the campus and friends there.

Still Composition

Diagonal rule-This follows the rule of thirds because of where the flag is in the picture and points diagonally across the picture from the bottom right corner to the top left corner.
Rule of thirds-horizontal line: The horizontal line of the fence causes my eyes to look upward especially since the points and roundness of the fence are almost like arrows to look up.
Motion/index vector-The cracks in ground cause my eyes to follow them up toward the monument.

PRESENTATION

I would say that this web page is a bad example of design. I think it is old fashioned, there is a smaller resolution. There is too much information on the page, there is nothing that pops out at me. I think this page is too busy, but plain as well. It seems as if they didn't have a big budget to create something more appealing to the eye. I feel like this page doesn't follow the law of pragnanz in that the information isn't reduced into a simple form.

I would say this is a good example of design. I like the drop down menu look. I think this is more eye popping and I like the variety of colors. Black and red are their main logo colors which makes it more noticable, recognizable. I like the scrolling tabs, it shows a lot of texture because of the pictures in them of examples of the kind of work they do. I like how the proximity of scrolling tab is nearly in the middle of the page horizontally and vertically that is. This website would make me want to look more into the software company because of the pictures of examples of things they do, create software.

Contrast...

This is a picture from the subway hike at Zion that my uncle took. I think the shot is pretty awesome. I LOVE the texture of the water. It makes me wish I was there. The waterfalls look so refreshing how the water is landing on the rock shelves below. I like where the sun is hitting the area how it draws your eyes to the rest of the picture. I also like that it is a wide shot like a panorama almost, if it weren't I don't think I would be drawn to it as much.
I am not a huge nature person by any means, but this really captures my eye and I enjoy looking at it. It's almost calming in a way, because the waterfalls are so small that you can just imagine their peacefulness compared to a huge waterfall that may be so loud that you can't enjoy it.
